7 pot pod hot pepper

I started growing the 7 pot hot pepper plant quite awhile ago because I had read that it had amazing flavor and I am always willing to try different varieties for the sauces and dishes I concoct with the hot peppers. I remember the very first pepper pod that ripened to a gorgeous bright yellow. It weighed about 18 grams and had a shape that was similar to the trinidad scorpion hot pepper. While the traditional version of the 7-Pot is red, this special variety that I grew produces yellow fruits. This pepper is agreed by many to be right up there with the Bhut Jolokia and Morich Naga in terms of heat. It is also comparable to the yellow and red Trinidad Scorpion. The legend behind the name of this pepper is that it is supposedly hot enough to flavor seven pots of food! In addition to taste-bud-busting heat, many growers prefer the taste and visual appeal of the 7-pot. When you cut the pod you can actually see the placenta full of capsicum oil. One of the hottest if not the hottest yellow variety there is, it is definitely worth trying if you like to have extremely hot 7 pod taste, with topical fruity taste .

I love this pepper. The taste truly is amazing. It is very fruity and definitely has a pineapple flavor coming through. The smell is also very fruity. This pepper is hotter than hot. I 7 pod pot hot pepper cross sectionhave only tasted a tiny piece of it raw and was hit hard by the intense heat. But, even through the heat there was that wonderful flavor. I make a very hot hot sauce using this pepper and add pineapple and mango to it to make it a powerful yet fruity sauce which is great on just about anything. The seed packet contains 10+ seeds and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

The heat  is 850,000 SHU+ and just keeps on building . The plant grows really well in pots.  It can reach up to 60 to 80 cm and is a good producer of some very rough and heavy pods that weigh up to 20-25 grams each. Note: If you click on the picture to the right you can actually see the capsicum oil in the pod. This is pure heat.

Every Chilli Head should have a yellow 7 pot super hot variety on their growing list.
